Introduction

My name is Kimberly Webb. I’m a runner, music collector, and proud member and supporter of the LGBTQ+ community. Now I’m beginning my journey as a blogger. Since I’m new here, I thought I’d share how Revolutions Per Mile came to be.

I started running when I was in sixth grade, when my teacher would sometimes make the class run a mile before the school day ends. It made me want to not only decrease my mile time, but run at least a mile without stopping. By seventh grade I was able to do the latter, and each time I ran without stopping the former would come to fruition. That year alone my mile time went from 10:32 to 7:15!

From eighth grade onwards I focused more on mileage—focusing on how long I can run without stopping. My junior and senior years in high school, when I didn’t have track or cross country practice, I would go for long runs in the evening. Then when I graduated high school morning runs became more of a routine for me.

Even though the long runs felt strenuous at first, repetition got me used to it. But what really pushed me through those hard runs was the music I would listen to. And when I started streaming music in 2018, I would take new music with me on runs on the days they would come out.

So here’s how RPM first started: a friend of mine got me interested in collecting vinyl, mostly because the colored ones looked pretty. So when I started collecting I would share my vinyl collection on my personal Instagram account. But I noticed that a lot of people had IG pages exclusively for vinyl or their music collection in general, and some of them would even have a gimmick that made them unique. So I thought, “How about I make my own music collection page, where I can also share what I listen to on my runs?” So I started Running With Music, then changed the name to Revolutions Per Mile after a year and a half so it would be a little more clever.

And since I’m queer, bisexual, and non-binary, and thus have a strong heart for the LGBTQ+ community, I thought I’d make it a page where I openly express my pride, as well. You should also know that I’m a safe person to come out to!

So that’s who I am, and I hoping to use this site to share blogs about my running journey and my mission to help the music scene I’m dedicated to. I’m also planning on sharing music news and release reviews, so I’m super stoked about that! Take your marks, and join me in this many-mile-long race to bring the scene further!

Nice story, I’d like to see your collection. How many records do you own?

Planning on making posts with pics of my records. I’m saying at least 300 right now, but I’m not sure.
