Texas hardcore/mathcore band fromjoy released a sick new single back on Friday, and it is no doubt one of their heaviest tracks to date! Their new track “docility,” is basically the musical equivalent of an adrenaline rush, as it is fast-paced from the moment it starts. The only time we get a slowdown is in the end after the drum-and-bass buildup, which leads to two of the most brutal breakdowns in the band’s career. This is where we get the feature of PeelingFlesh vocalist Damonteal, when his gutturals kick in during the first heavy breakdown. Then when he holds a pig squeal, the music stops, then his gutturals continue as a slower, even heavier breakdown concludes the song! It definitely leaves you feeling like you witnessed something powerful, because you just did!
Back in July 2022, fromjoy released their EP away, which focuses more on the drum-and-bass and electronic side of the band. If you were expecting more of that from them after hearing it, then “docility” would for sure put you off guard. More than that, it would leave you blown away by how many different layers fromjoy have in their music. Whatever new music this band has planned us in the future, we know for sure they will keep us on our toes!
